The Regal at Bathway Quarter, Woolwich

Crossrail will facilitate a transformation of Woolwich, supporting regeneration, reducing journey times and creating new transport links for local people. From 2018, up to 12 services an hour will allow passengers to travel to Canary Wharf, the City and the West End without having to change trains. The new station will improve transport connectivity, providing a direct route to Canary Wharf, central London and beyond. Woolwich is undergoing a period of intensive regeneration with huge investment in new housing, transport, retail and leisure facilities. Major private sector investment in Woolwich town centre, creating 11.5 acres of new retail floor space, is set to generate over 1,000 new jobs in the next five years. Average house prices in the London borough of Greenwich were up 18.5% year-on-year up until February 2015 according to Land Registry data, while rents across the borough increased by approximately 17% between 2013-2014. According to JLL, Woolwich can expect a 52% uplift in property prices between 2015 and 2020. Royal Arsenal Riverside, by Berkeley Homes, is one of the UK’s largest and most prestigious regeneration sites with over 5,000 properties being delivered over the next ten years. The transformation is a GBP1.2 billion project which is acting as a catalyst for wider regeneration in the area. Over the next ten years approximately 18,000 new homes will be constructed in Royal Greenwich, leading to a 34% increase in population between 2011 and 2031.
